Alice A. Schaeffer

1928 - 2016

Alice Ann (Groves) Schaeffer, 88, formerly of Natrona Heights, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, surrounded by family, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Wexford. Ann was born Thursday, June 21, 1928, in Leechburg, to the late Gerald and Alice (Dainty) Groves. She was a 1946 graduate of Leechburg High School and became self-employed as a beautician for a long period of time. She was a member and avid volunteer of Faith Lutheran Church in Natrona Heights, where she enjoyed participating in church functions and activities. Ann also loved traveling with her late husband, Jim, and supporting the Animal Rescue League. Ann is survived by her loving family, daughter, Kathy Magdic (Michael), of Pittsburgh, and son, Scott Schaeffer (Sherri) of Landenberg, Pa.; and five grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Magdic, and Derek, Grant, and Ethan Schaeffer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. James "Jim" Schaeffer, on October 30, 2008, and siblings, Robert Groves and Betty Smeltzer.
Family and friends are invited from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, at ROBERT PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA (724-224-7730). Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1500 Broadview Blvd., Natrona Heights, PA 15065, with the Rev. Barbara Ravenstahl officiating. Private burial will follow.
