David A. Dunning

1946 - 2017

David A. Dunning, 70, of Tarentum, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017, at home, unexpectedly. He was born Dec. 15, 1946, in Harrison Township, son of the late Charles and Gladys L. (Reedy) Dunning. David lived most of his life in Tarentum and worked in the maintenance at Top Craft Industries. He was a veteran of Vietnam, serving in the Air Force. David was of the Protestant faith and a graduate of Tarentum High School. He enjoyed model trains and was a toy collector. David was a nature lover and enjoyed feeding all wildlife and birds. Survivors include his wife of five years, Rebecca S. (Legersky) Dunning; daughters, Suzanne (Duane) Crumbacher, of Midwest City, Okla., and Rebecca (Greg) Sanders, of Ragley, La.; grandchildren, Katrina, Mercy, Amanda and Nathan; stepchildren, Sarah (Brandon) Hetherton, of Rural Valley, Joshua Silvis, of Tarentum, Benjamin (Jennifer) Silvis, of North Apollo, Micah Silvis, of Vandergrift, and Kathryn (Daniel) Clawson, of East Vandergrift; and step-grandchildren, Riley, Marley, Cole, Liam, Keegan, Mason and Jonathan. Also surviving are his siblings, Linda (Bob) Bolt, of Natrona, Paul (Laura) Dunning, of Valdosta, Ga., Phyllis Leone, of Staunton, Va., Fred (Nora) Dunning, of Verona, and Karen Beckett, of Natrona Heights.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., 347 E. Tenth Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Robert B. Walker, officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017, in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
