Denise A. (Konkle) Zabinski, 66, of Kiski Township, passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle against esophageal cancer. Born Oct. 31, 1954, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Walter Konkle and Hannah (Curran) Konkle. She spent her early childhood in Parker before moving to the Apollo area. Denise was a 1972 graduate of Apollo-Ridge High School, a 1976 graduate of Edinboro University with a Bachelor's degree in speech & language pathology, and in 1978, obtained her Master's degree from Clarion University. Denise's kind heart and generous spirit led her to dedicate her career to helping others in need, especially children. She worked as a speech and language pathologist for several local organizations, including United Cerebral Palsy, ARIN Intermediate Unit 28, and retired from the Blairsville/Saltsburg School District. Denise attended St. James Roman Catholic Church in Apollo. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, flowers and bird watching. Denise loved reading, good television, creativity and the arts and was an amateur flutist and skilled visual artist. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. The world was a better and more loving place because Denise was in it. Denise is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, David R. Zabinski, of Kiski Township; daughter, Rebecca D. Zabinski, of Houston, Texas; son, David H. Zabinski, of Kiski Township; and her sister, Mary Ellen Fullerton, of Freeport. At the family's request, all services are private and have been entrusted to the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., Apollo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered in Denise's memory to United Cerebral Palsy of Pittsburgh,4638 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
