Dorothy I. Dobransky

1935 - 2025

Dorothy Irene Dobransky, 90, of Freeport, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born in Luxor on Sept. 15, 1935, a daughter of the late Dorothy (Dwyer) and Sylvester Gornick. She was the widow of Frank Dobransky, who passed away in 1977. Dorothy worked as an RN and nursing instructor at Allegheny Valley Hospital and Citizens General Hospital. She retired after 20 years of teaching at Lenape Technical School in 2001. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ford City. She enjoyed spending time with her family at picnics and bonfires and going on walks. She is survived by three sons, Stephen (Michelle Scopel) Dobransky, of Ford City; John (Kelly) Dobransky, of Sarver; and Peter (Jody) Dobransky, of Freeport; and by two daughters, Mary Dobransky, of Freeport, and Theresa (Bill) Coe, of Valparaiso, IN; and by 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild with one on the way; as well as two sisters and one brother. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025, at the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 514 ninth St., Ford City, with Rev. John Gribik officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Ford City. In lieu of flowers, Dorothy's family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choosing.
