Douglas Scott Coward, (Doug, Dad, Pup), of Upper Burrell, born Jan. 22, 1949, at Citizens General Hospital, in New Kensington, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, Feb. 6, 2023. He was surrounded by his family, pastor and friends. He graduated from Burrell High School, 1967. Doug accepted Christ Jesus as his Savior and Lord, Sept. 14, 1985. He enjoyed motorcycle riding with his wife of 54 years, hunting, fishing, operating heavy equipment and distributing God's word as a Gideon International member. He served as The Gideon's Memorial Bible Chairman and Chaplain for years, was an Elder and member of Lower Burrell Baptist Church, and held several offices with Christian Motorcycle Association since 2009. He was president of Bull Creek Rod and Gun Club for nine years. He loved being with his girls, grandsons and great-grandson, spending time together hunting, target practicing, fishing and camping. He enjoyed watching Jeffrey and Isaac wrestle and play. Doug was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and was part owner of Coward Contracting Company, of Lower Burrell. He worked for Davison Sand and Gravel as a dredge operator and was a member of Local Union 66B since 1969. Doug is the son of the late Delmar L. and Marion (Ross) Coward Sr. He is the beloved husband and soul mate of Dulcina M. Coward; father of Brenda J. (Alan) Milito, of Upper Burrell, and Kelly L. (Robert) Kosecki, also of Upper Burrell; grandfather of Jeffrey A. Shutak Jr., of Creighton, Zachary D. Shutak (Victoria Mikula), of Natrona Heights, and step-granddaughter, Kaitlyn A. (Nicholas) Colledge, of Natrona Heights, Isaac Kosecki and great-grandson. Jeffrey. He is also survived by his sisters, Marion Kepes, of Florida, and Madonna Flinn, of Lower Burrell. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother, David, and Delmar (Brud) L. Coward Jr. Doug did not want to have a funeral service. There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2023, with a dinner following at Lower Burrell Baptist Church, 2935 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to one of Doug's three favorite organizations: Lower Burrell Baptist Church, 2935 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell PA 15068; Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA), cmausa.org; and Gideons International, www.gideons.org/donate. We are so sorry for your loss, Doug was such a good man with a kind heart. We enjoyed him coming to our home every year for bear hunting and enjoyed all the memories we shared during his visit. He is in Heaven now and is at peace. You certainly have a lot of precious memories to last a lifetime. Love Clipper and Laura
