Edward Sowinski Obituary

Edward F. Sowinski, 73, of Natrona, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014, at his home. Born Oct. 8, 1940, in Natrona, he was a son of the late Stephen and Loretta Kowalski Sowinski. Edward served in the Army and also in the Air Force. He retired after 32 years from the Quality Control Dept. of Glenshaw Glass. Edward was of the Catholic faith. A member of the Polish National Alliance and the Kosciuszko Polish Patriotic Social Society, both in Natrona, he enjoyed watching TV, fishing and raising his German shepherds. Edward is survived by his daughters, Karen L. (Clarence) Ecker, of Natrona, Ellen R. (Curt) Roddy, of East Spartan, Ohio, and Arlene F. Strader, of Frazer Township; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank (Isabella) Sowinski, of Plum, and Joseph Sowinski, of Dubois; and by his sisters, Gerry (Jack) Pinkus, of Massachusetts, and Bernadette (Ron) Clark, of Indiana. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia E. Giehll Sowinski, Oct. 9, 2007; his grandson, Joshua Roddy; and by his brother, Stephen Sowinski, in infancy. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday.
