Eleanor A. Shaffer

Eleanor A. (Artman) Shaffer, 93, of Parks Township, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at Pine View Personal Care Facility in Parks Township. A daughter of the late Clark Lafayette Artman and Laura V. (Reed) Artman, she was born Sept. 13, 1929 in Leechburg. Eleanor was a homemaker and member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leechburg. She was also a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Eleanor enjoyed playing the hand bells in church, along with crocheting, knitting, doing ceramics and solving word search puzzles as her hobbies. Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Heddinger (Barry), of Woodbridge, Va.; four grandchildren, Diahanna Cooper (Joe), Douglas E. Shaffer, Michael B. Heddinger and Mikaela Heddinger; and three great-grandchildren, Kristen Kilgore, Deanna Shaffer and Ethan Shaffer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Clyde L. "Bud" Shaffer in June 2008; her son, Donald Shaffer; a sister, Doris Fay Artman, and an infant sister. Friends will be welcomed by her family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, at the CLAWSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CENTER, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 358 Main St., Leechburg, with the Rev. James V. Arter III officiating.
