Emma R. Serrano

Emma Rita Serrano, MD, 87, of Baldwin, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025, at Longwood of Oakmont. She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on Jan. 18, 1938, to the late Erasmo and Caridad Gonzalez Serrano and lived in Baldwin the majority of her life. Dr. Serrano worked as the medical director for Woodville State Hospital and later as the assistant medical director for Mayview State Hospital. She was of the Roman Catholic faith and enjoyed traveling, especially with her sister; attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events; sewing; embroidery; Puerto Rican culture; and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates. She is survived by her two daughters, Emma Rosa (Ronald) Stonis of New Kensington and Elizabeth Marie (Kurt) Rishor of Butler; and eight grandchildren, Joshua (Emily) Gordon, Natalie (Mark) Hasbani, Liam Gordon, Daniel Stonis, Cari Stonis, Matthew Stonis, Seth Rishor, and Quinn Rishor; great-grandchildren, Vivienne Hasbani, Lukas Hasbani, Rhett Gordon, and Grant Gordon; sister, Ina Serrano of San Juan, PR; and brother, Erasmo (Yolanda) Serrano Jr. of Houston, TX. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Ina Gordon. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at THE RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder St., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025.
