Eric C. VonHofen, 53, formerly of New Kensington, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, in Coral Springs, Fla. Born Sept. 16 1968, in Elyria, Ohio, he was a son of the late Earl W. VonHofen III and the late Joan E. (Schaeffer) VonHofen. Eric was a 1987 graduate of Valley High School. He was an avid mechanic and enjoyed working on his motorcycle that he rode as much as he could. He loved animals, especially his Huskies. Most of all, he enjoyed the time he could spend with family and friends. He served in the Army for more than 22 years all over the world and participated in both Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Eric is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Marilynn (Hartman); one daughter, Mariah E. Howard and her husband, Jake, of West Leechburg; two sons, Eric V. VonHofen and wife, Sophia, of Tamarac, Fla., and Ryan VonHofen, of Coral Springs, Fla.; a sister, Ann E. Swab and husband, David, of Moorhead, Minn.; and brother, John P. VonHofen and wife, Gina, of Leechburg. Service for immediate family be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, at LEVITT FUNERAL HOME, Tamarac, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VFW, American Legion or Wounded Warrior Project
