Ernest Lovelace

1922 - 2018

Ernest Lovelace, 95, of Leechburg, passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, in his residence. A son of the late Samuel H. Lovelace Sr. and Mary (Cooley) Lovelace, he was born June 26, 1922, in West Point, Ga. Ernest had been employed as a slitter operator with Allegheny Ludlum West Leechburg Works for 42 years before retiring in 1984. He was a veteran, having served in the Army during World War II. Ernest was a member of the Second Baptist Church, Leechburg, the American Legion and the Elks Lodge No. 294, New Kensington. He enjoyed doing yard work, being active in his church and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Edyth L. (Waugh) Lovelace, of Leechburg; three sons, Glenn M. Lovelace (Danielle), of New Kensington, Ernest Gregg Lovelace (Altesia), of Monroeville, and Christopher Lovelace, of Leechburg; a daughter, Beth Lovelace McDonald, of Plum; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Commodore (James), of Ford City, and Patricia Ann Lovelace, of Gilpin Township. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his stepmother, Viola E. (Nelson) Lovelace; five brothers, Jesse, John, Robert, Samuel H. Jr. and Paul Lovelace; and a sister, Dorothy Guy.
Friends will be welcomed by his family from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at the Second Baptist Church, 272 Route 66, Leechburg, where funeral ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, with the Rev. Louis D. Harris officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to CLAWSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CENTER, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, 104 Melwood Road, Lower Burrell.
