Eugene Miller Obituary

Eugene "Gene" Miller, 88, of Lower Burrell, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Concordia in Cabot. He was born in Arnold Dec. 19, 1933, to the late Ralph and Virginia (Thomas) Miller. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dorothy (Balla) Miller; his beloved children, Lori (Bob) Brasiola, of New Kensington and Michael (Della) Miller, of Export; granddaughters, Brittany (Stephen) Jones and Elise (Eric) Leach; and great-grandchildren, Harper and Kennedy Jones and Ashton and Aiden Leach. He was the dear brother of Robert (Jane) Miller, of Florida, and the late Tom (Margie) Miller, of Lower Burrell, and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Gene graduated from Arnold High School in 1952 and went on to join the Army, where he served in Germany. Upon his discharge, he worked at Alcoa and Westinghouse before opening Arnold Furniture in 1975 with his wife, Dorothy. Gene was a member of Mt. Saint Peter's Parish in New Kensington, the Arnold Chamber of Commerce, where he was named man of the year, Arnold Lions, Tyrian Lodge No. 644 Free and Accepted Masons, Moose, the William Penn Association and the Elks. He was an avid sports fan of all local teams and enjoyed traveling, visiting more than 30 countries with his wife and family. Gene loved having nice dinners and treasured boating at "the cottage." Above all, Gene was most proud of his business and family. He will be greatly missed by all. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at RJ SLATER IV FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE, 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington. Prayers of transfer will be held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Mt. Saint Peter Church. Interment to follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
