Evelyn R. Stephan

1928 - 2023

Evelyn R. Stephan, 94, formerly of Natrona Heights, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at Concordia at Villa St. Joseph, Baden. She was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Lucinda, Clarion County, Pa., to the late Ambrose and Carrie (Henderson) Schwabenbauer. She lived the past three months in Baden, and prior to that, in Concordia at Cabot and Natrona Heights. Evelyn was a health and physical education teacher for Franklin Area High School and Highlands High School for 35 years. She was a member of Harrison Hills Fire Department Auxiliary and the Ladies of Most Blessed Sacrament Church. Evelyn graduated from Otto High School in Duke Center and Slippery Rock State Teachers College. She enjoyed listening to the radio, traveling and ocean cruises with her husband. Survivors include her daughters, Cynthia K. (Thomas) Schellinger Perdeus, and Kathryn R. Stephan, both of Sarver; and her grandsons, Robert R. (Shan) Schellinger and their three children, of Chantilly, Va., and Marcus K. (Erin) Schellinger and their three children, of West Sunbury. Also surviving is a sister, Mary Lou Durr, of Verona, N.Y. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond H. Stephan Jr., on Aug. 23, 2022; a daughter, Susan M. Silver, of Tampa, Fla.; and her brothers, Walter and Benjamin Schwabenbauer.
