Floyd Ekas Obituary

Floyd "Skip" D. Ekas, 88, formerly of Natrona Heights, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, at Aviata Rehabilitation Center at Spring Hill, Brooksville, FL. He was born July 5, 1937, in West Deer Township, to the late Wilbur and Gertrude (Marshall) Ekas, growing up on the family farm. Floyd lived most of his life in Natrona Heights and the past four years in Florida. He graduated from West Deer High School in 1955, then attended night school at the Penn State - New Kensington campus. After graduating high school, he spent several years doing body shop work for Nick Chevrolet and Bouchat Buick. All of his life, he maintained his love of cars, especially muscle cars. He was later hired at Oberg Manufacturing, where he spent 36 years. He retired as a tool and die assembler. During his time at Oberg's, he moved with his family to Singapore for two years, allowing them to benefit from living in a multicultural environment and traveling the world. He was a member of the Protestant faith. He was an avid golfer for much of his life. He also enjoyed the mountains and snow skiing, motorcycles, and helping friends and neighbors fix just about anything. Survivors include his children, Michael (Jill) Ekas of Erie, Marcia (Scott) Nelson of The Villages, FL, and Jeffrey (Jodi) Ekas of Spring Hill, FL; grandchildren Daniel, Meagan, Jonathan, Jacob, Sara, Tyler, Ian, and Luke; and two great-grandchildren, Eden and Mia. Also surviving are his sisters, Kathy Faith of Coco Beach, FL, and Linda Ekas of Buffalo Township. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Nancy J. (Gould) Ekas, in 2015; and his youngest sister, Penelope Ekas. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in DUSTER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, with Rev. Philip A. Beck, Pastor First United Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights. VISIT: dusterfuneralhomeinc.com
