Frances M. Yonek

1920 - 2017

Frances Mary (Kubik) Yonek, 96, of Leechburg, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Pleasant Ridge Mature Living in Allegheny Township. A daughter of the late Frank Kubik and Barbara (Cujdik) Kubik, she was born Nov. 9, 1920, in Pittsburgh. Frances was a homemaker and member of Christ the King Parish in Gilpin Township, the former St. Martha's R.C. Church in Leechburg and the CD of A of Leechburg. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers sports fan who enjoyed playing the lottery and scratching off instant lottery tickets. Frances especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Cooper (Michael), of McDonald, Pa.; a brother, John Kubik (JoAnn), of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Margie Winisky (William), of South Carolina, Rose Mary Callahan, of Warren, Ohio, and Sylvia Previni (Raymond), of Apollo; and several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bartholomew "Bart" Yonek, who died Feb. 4, 1997; three brothers, Joseph, Frank and Charles Kubik; and three sisters, Emily Kubik, Anna Pastiva and Cecilia Urbanec.
There will be no public visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2017, at Christ the King Parish, 125 Park Road, Gilpin Township, with the Rev. Ronald Cyktor officiating. Interment will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery, 614 Evergreen Road, Gilpin Township.
