George Hanlon Obituary

George Charles Hanlon Sr., 74, of New Kensington, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. He was born in Tarentum on Dec. 29, 1931, to the late George and Mary Ann Duffy Hanlon and was a life resident of the local area. He had worked for Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. in Brackenridge and Ingalls Iron Works in Verona. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Hanlon was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell, St. Joseph High School class of 1949 and a life member of the Brackenridge American Legion. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren, was a great Notre Dame football fan and enjoyed his friends at the "Hilltop." Survivors include his wife, Francine I. Denis Hanlon; children, Peggy (Mark) Allman, of Lower Burrell, George C. (Cyndi) Hanlon Jr., of Lower Burrell, Colleen (Greg) Cohen, of Pleaston, Calif., Annette (Robert) Wasilowski, of Natrona Heights, and Denis (Cheri) Hanlon, of Battleground, Wash.; grandchildren, Daniel and Katelyn Allman, John McIntyre and Jasmine Wilks, Nicole and Brandon Cohen, Luke and Emily Wasilowski, Ryan and Lindsay Hanlon; a great-grandson, Devin Wilks; a brother, William Hanlon, of Portsmouth, Ohio. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Daniel, John and Kenneth Hanlon; and a sister, Ruth Daubner. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street, Lower Burrell. Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazier Township.
