Irene C. Schurer

Irene C. (Thuer) Schurer, 94, of West Deer Township died Wednesday March 2, 2022, at Harmar Village Care Center, Harmar. She was born May 16, 1927, in Pittsburgh, to the late William J. and Margaret M. (Landman) Thuer. Rene has lived in West Deer most of her life. She worked as an associate for Renee's Hallmark Shop, Route 8, for over 20 years. Rene was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, West Deer, and the church Y&R group. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards and traveling to the casino. Survivors include her children, George W. (Julie) Schurer Jr., of West Deer, Claire M. (Buzzy) Dockman, of Curtisville, and Donald (Judy) Schurer, of Butler; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Schurer Sr., in 1998; her son, William J. Schurer Sr., in 2019; her grandsons, William J. Schurer Jr. and Jeffrey A. Schurer; as well as her sister, Dolores A. Behe. The family asks all family and friends attending to observe social distancing, wearing of masks and keeping your visit short. Her family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, St. Victor Church, Bairdford. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Verona.
