Jack Arnoldy Obituary

Jack E. Arnoldy, 70, of Washington, formerly of Apollo, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington Campus. Born April 8, 1941, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Frank N. Arnoldy and Berneice (Eckman) Arnoldy. Jack was a 1959 graduate of Apollo High School and lived in Apollo all of his life. He worked as a courier for NVR Settlement Service in Pittsburgh, a division of Ryan Homes, until retiring in 2007. Jack previously worked as an assistant manager at JC Penney Auto Center in Monroeville, a manager at JC Penney Auto Center in Bridgeville, in the parts department at Glen Bush Ford in Apollo, and at Highland Tire in Natrona Heights. Jack enjoyed going to the horse track and was an animal lover, especially horses and dogs. He was an avid sports fan, and liked to go hunting. Jack was known for his dry sense of humor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Joyce Arnoldy. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Scott) Traverso, of Washington, Pa.; son, David S. (Dawn) Arnoldy, of Stephens City, Va.; grandchildren, Jenna and Drew; brother, Nick (Sue) Arnoldy, of Kiski Township; aunt, Helen Hutchison, of Apollo; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. Services take place at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Lea Austin officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.
