James E. Simonetti

It is with deep sorrow that the family of James Edward Simonetti announces his passing, Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021. Jim passed peacefully after a valiant fight with illness, with his loving wife by his side. Jim loved his family unconditionally, and he was a devoted husband, caring son, adoring father and beloved brother. Jim proudly served his community as a dedicated police officer and served the past 25 years with his fellow officers at Carnegie Mellon University Police. Jim will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 20 years, Heather K. (McMillan) Simonetti; children, Heather Marie, Ashleigh, Anthony (McMillan), David and Lucas; parents, Valerio and Marilyn (Mills) Simonetti; sister, Sharron (Dan) Antonucci; granddaughter, Emma Mae McMillan; sister-in-law, Jen Simonetti: faithful companions, Chloe and Zoey, whom he loved to give special treats; and many other family members, friends and colleagues. Jim was preceded in death by his older brother, Valeriano Simonetti, who met him in Heaven to show him the way. Jim loved life and embraced every moment, making pizza, cooking spicy foods, arguing with his father, astronomy, sharing his enjoyment of unusual beers and was a great lover of 80's music; especially Iron Maiden. His sense of humor, gentle manner and lovable personality will be greatly missed. The family thanks the Carnegie Mellon Police family for their support during this difficult time and considers Jim's CMU family a part of their own. They also extend their gratitude to the staff of UPMC Presbyterian hospital for their care and compassion. Relatives, friends and colleagues are invited to attend visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at ADAM SIEMIANOWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 179 Starr Road, Russellton, PA 15076. A Christian funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of the Lakes, Transfiguration Campus, 100 McKrell Road, Russellton, PA 15076, with the Rev. James P. Holland, celebrant.
