James A. Suchetski Sr.

1935 - 2025

James A. Suchetski Sr., 89, of New Kensington, formerly of Bell Township, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, in AHN-Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, surrounded by his loving family. Born Dec. 12, 1935, in Truxall, he was a son of the late Walter Suchetski Sr. and Agnes (Repak) Suchetski. Jim proudly served our country with the United States Marines during the Korean War and worked as a coal miner for R & P Coal Company for more than 30 years, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed attending the local union meetings at the Tinsmill Community Center. Jim was Catholic by faith and read his Bible faithfully. He was a skilled accordion player and liked repairing and restoring them as well. Jim liked polka dancing and disco and most loved being with his family, as well as his beloved dog Turner and pets from his extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jon Paul Clever; great-grandson, Carter Henderson; and his brothers, John Husarik, Louis Gacik, Joseph Gacik, Henry Suchetski, and Walter Suchetski. Jim is survived by his children, Kim (Reuben) Yon of Aiken, SC, James (Cassie) Suchetski, Jr. of Bell Township, Lisa (Bob) Carr of Beech Island, SC, Sheila Suchetski of Follansbee, WV, and Lorne Suchetski of New Kensington; grandchildren, Daniel (Monica) Bressler, Shane (Kelsey) Lundy, Anthony James "Bud" Suchetski, Zachary (Rachel) Henderson, Elijah (Victoria) Suchetski, Amanda Henderson, Taylor Henderson, Roman Hart, and Kelcie Henderson; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, in CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, with Reverend Louie Calandrella officiating. Following the services, military honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard. Private interment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
