Joan Mary Matt, 90, of Lower Burrell, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, in her home. She was born in New Kensington on Aug. 1, 1935, to the late Dario and Josephine Dumot Noca and has been a resident of Lower Burrell since moving from Upper Burrell in 2007. Mrs. Matt worked as a registered nurse for 36 years at Citizen's Hospital and later at the Miner's Clinic, both in New Kensington She was a very active member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, New Kensington as well as the Myrrh Bearer Women's Society. She volunteered for the food bank and cooked for church festivals. She enjoyed going to the casino, scratch-off lottery tickets, playing cards and going to plays in the Cultural District. She is survived by her three daughters, Suzette (Barry) Carbaugh of Lower Burrell, Lisa "Dee Dee" (Don) Driscoll of Quincy, CA, Christine (Jim) Palko of Lower Burrell; nine grandchildren, Laurel (Chaz) Connolly, Megan (Brian) Herman, Ryan (Megan) Carbaugh, Christopher (Kelsey) Driscoll, Stephanie (Andrew) Patota, Nathan Matt, Mary Jo, Jenna, Lisa Palko; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick K. Matt Jr.; son, Frederick K. Matt III; and sister, Cecelia Feldman. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, at RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road, at Alder St. An Orthodox funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 1150 Leishman Ave., New Kensington. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. A Trisagion service will take place at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, in the funeral home.
