John E. Balicki

John E. Balicki, 83, of Sarver, Buffalo Township, died at 7:51 a.m. Friday (March 12, 2004) in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison.

He was born Sept. 11, 1920, in Blacklick, and lived in Sarver the past 50 years. A World War II veteran, he served with the Navy for six years. For several years, he was a craneman at Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Brackenridge Works. He founded and operated Balicki Insurance Agency, Natrona Heights, Harrison, 40 years ago. Mr. Balicki was a member of Zion Methodist Church, Sarver. He enjoyed traveling, golfing and working in his yard. Survivors include his wife, Genevieve "Joan" Truschinski Balicki; two sons, John B. (Dulce) Balicki of Monroeville and Jeffrey B. (Bobbi Jo) Balicki of Glenshaw; a daughter, Mrs. Renee (Jerry) Schmeider of Fairfax Station, Va.; and a sister, Ethel Grabowski of Brackenridge. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah Kokos Balicki; a brother, Leonard Balicki; and two sisters, Helen Rzcezkowski and Peg Belli. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday (March 20) at Zion United Methodist Church, 438 Bearcat Road, Sarver, with the Rev. Howard Greenfield officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are being handled by the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, Lower Burrell.
