John Krawczykiewicz Obituary

John "Babe" Krawczykiewicz, 90, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023. He was the beloved father to Carolyn (David) Ludwig, Paul (Elizabeth) Krawczykiewicz, Laurie Krawczykiewicz and Michael Krawczykiewicz; and loving grandfather to Julian (Brenna) Ludwig, Isabella Ludwig, Sophia and Jacob Musselman, and Ana Krawczykiewicz. John is survived by siblings, Patricia Staley, of New Kensington, and Bill (Bonnie) Kraft, of Colorado Springs; and his long-time partner, Kathleen Moore, of New Kensington; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. John was preceded in death by siblings, Anne (Edward) Lacinski, Vera (Rudy) Faix, Jane (Joseph) Balla, Blanche (George) Stewart, Paul "Tony" (Mary) Krawczykiewicz and Stanley Krawczykiewicz. John was also preceded in death by his former wife, Dora Bartolacci; and many close friends and family. Born Nov. 1, 1932, in New Kensington, to Antonia (Sobolak) and Adelbert Krawczykiewicz, John was educated during his primary years at St. Mary of Czestochowa School, followed by New Kensington High School, "Ken Hi." Participating on the school basketball team and being elected to his senior class office of secretary, he graduated in 1950. Attending the University of Pittsburgh, John graduated from the School of Engineering with a B.S. in metallurgical engineering in 1954 and fulfilled his military service at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Following brief employment at Pratt & Whitney, Hartford, Conn., John accepted a position at Westinghouse Electric, first based in Youngwood, and then completing his career at the East Pittsburgh plant. John was a lifelong learner. He pursued graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University. He audited almost every course CCAC offered. A passionate supporter of the arts, John was a longtime patron of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the Pittsburgh Opera. Favorites included mezzo-soprano, Marilyn Horne, and cellist, Lynn Harrell. Admiration was held for many area performing and visual arts organizations. Never one to underestimate a great meal, John engaged in all things culinary; noted favorites being ice cream and a good cup of coffee. At the age of nine, he began working at Szoch Bakery and mastered his little known talent of fantastically decorating any cake. John was an avid sports fan on all levels. A once-in-a-lifetime trip to Poland came in 1971, when he traveled to Sanok, his parents' birthplace, alongside his father and two brothers. Mass will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 18 at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church in New Kensington. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Lower Burrell. Arrangements were made by THE RUSIEWICZ FAMILY OF FUNERAL DIRECTORS, ARNOLD & LOWER BURRELL. www.RusiewiczFH.com.

So sorry to read about Babe"s death. He was always concerned about keeping in touch with former St. Marys friends and acquaintances. I still have his last letter that we exchanged. Please accept my condolences of a great guy , in my opinion, trying to keep in touch with the past. May he rest in peace. Jack from Syracuse--- a friend of Bills from ST. Marys.

A special friend to my dad and our family! Always made time to occasionally stop by and visit. Was very interested in how everyone was and what they were doing. Now he is able to watch over everyone! He will be missed by many.
