John W. "Jack" Mulvihill, 75, a Pittsburgh native, passed away peacefully in his home in New Orleans on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025. He was surrounded by the family who loved him dearly as he went to his eternal rest. Jack was born on Oct. 4, 1950 in Pittsburgh, and was the son of the late Francis "Chip" and Mildred (Bonenberger) Mulvihill. Jack brought joy, pride, and determination to everything he did. He attended St. Rosalia's Grade School in Greenfield and then Central Catholic High School. He earned a B.S. in Accounting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and later a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University in New Orleans. He spent over 15 years with the Dravo Corporation in Pittsburgh. After relocating to New Orleans in 1990, he ultimately rose to become Chief Financial Officer of Louisiana-based Danos Corporation, a supplier of energy services for the oil and gas industry. Jack loved sports in every way. He played basketball at IUP, and to say he was an avid golfer would be an understatement. Jack played multiple times a week for many years and notched a hole-in-one at Oak Harbor Golf Club in New Orleans. Jack was a lifelong fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams, particularly Duquesne basketball and the Steelers. Jack was in attendance when the Steelers won both Super Bowl XL and Super Bowl XLIII. His greatest fandom was reserved for his children and grandchildren. He was a constant presence at his sons' games and followed his grandsons' games religiously from a distance via phone and text. More than anything, Jack was a consummate family man. An exemplary father, grandfather, and uncle, Jack was invariably patient, kind, and supportive. He was a devoted husband for 54 years. He was our family's North Star and always will be. Our family thanks the many wonderful friends and professionals who provided so much love and support in the final year of Jack's life. We are especially grateful to Sara Velasco, Johnny Rae and Bob Hurlbut, and Lyle and Mark Williams. We also thank Dr. Brian Halbert, Melissa Voltz, N.P., all at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, Peggy Stovall, and all at Compassus Hospice in New Orleans. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Millie Kleppick. Jack is survived by his wife, Janice (Schandel) Mulvihill, a Latrobe native. He is also survived by his sons, Mike of Los Angeles, CA, and Jim of Denver, CO; his daughters-in-law, Dionne Nosek and Miranda Lash; his four grandchildren, Nate, Harper, Francis, and Joseph; his niece, Lori Knerr (Kleppick); his nephew, Tim Kleppick; and Tim's longtime partner, Janemarie Jaworski. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A memorial will be celebrated at noon in the funeral home. Private interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Latrobe.
