Joseph R. Bondra

1948 - 2023

Joseph Robert Bondra, 75, of New Kensington, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, in Armstrong Care Center, Kittanning. He was born Feb. 29, 1948, in New Kensington, to the late Joseph Emil and Olga Borris Bondra, and was a lifelong resident of the local area. Mr. Bondra worked as a steelworker for U.S. Steel, as a coal miner for Harmar Coal Co., and had also worked in construction. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, the Arnold American Legion, the Sons of the American Legion, the New Kensington F.O. Eagles, Arnold No. 2, and a life member of the 7th Street Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed music, deejaying, golf, billiards, horseshoes and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates. He was also a skilled artist and did artwork for several clubs and businesses. He is survived by his daughter, Renea (Larry) Klukaszewski, of Upper Burrell; son, Jason Bondra (Camilla Hendrych), of South Hills; five grandchildren, Jacob (Emily) Klukaszewski, Sarah (Nicholas) Pattock, Nicholas Klukaszewski, Cody Hendrych-Bondra and River Hendrych-Bondra; and great-granddaughter, Ruth Pattock. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at THE RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street, where prayers of transfer will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by Christian funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Arnold. The 7th Street Sportsman's Club will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. www.RusiewiczFH.com.
