Josephine Farmery

Josephine "Josie" (Scandrol) Farmery, 77, of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, in UPMC St. Margaret hospital. The daughter of the late John Scandrol and Ruth (Bond) Scandrol, she was born Oct. 24, 1946, in New Kensington. Josie was a 1964 graduate of Ken-Hi and retired after 17 years with the Burrell School District and 21 years with Community Market, both in Lower Burrell. Josie loved to watch QVC and loved to travel locally. She loved to read and loved to meet friends, especially when she worked. She is survived by her sons, Shawn Farmery, of Greensburg, and Patrick Farmery, of Lower Burrell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Farmery, in May of 1985, son of the late Robert and Beatrice (Snow) Farmery. She is survived by a sister, Jacqueline (Scandrol) Ezyk, of Lower Burrell; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses for the great care they gave. Also, thanks to St. Margaret Hospital. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at THE RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Rd. at Alder St., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday.
