Larry Michael Ezyk, 79, passed away at 5:25 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 2021. He was born May 21, 1942, in Harrison Township, to the late Joseph and Augusta (Kalinoski) Ezyk as their second son. He was proudly married for 50 beautiful years to Jacqueline (Scandrol) Ezyk that would produce three loving children and six wonderful grandchildren. Mr. Ezyk was a retired conductor of 30 years from Norfolk Southern, Conrail and Penn Central railroads. Also, he worked for West Penn Power in Springdale, U.S. Steel in Chicago, Ill., and Saxonburg, and Gold Crest Dairy, in Lower Burrell and Cheswick. For religion, Mr. Ezyk was a Lutheran. He was a member of Bethel Lodge No. 789 Free and Accepted Masons in Lower Burrell. Also, Mr. Ezyk dedicated 35 years to the Lower Burrell Flyers Youth Football Organization as a head cook when the organization went to football camp in Somerset. Mr. Ezyk enjoyed what the game of football provided for life lessons. He absolutely loved watching the Lower Burrell Flyers, Burrell Buccaneers, Pitt Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a season ticketholder for the Pittsburgh Steelers for almost 40 years. Besides football, he liked to watch the Pittsburgh Penguins. In retirement, he liked to take day trips within Pennsylvania, to Ohio and to Florida to visit his son's family. He really enjoyed his hobby of working in the yard every day during his retirement years. Mr. Ezyk's absolute favorite moments in life were when he was surrounded by family. He loved each family member with all that he had inside him. Most of all, he cherished his grandchildren. The Ezyk family wants to thank everyone from the emergency room and the intensive care unit at Allegheny Valley Hospital. Also, we would like to thank his doctors from Allegheny General Hospital. Mr. Ezyk was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Ezyk and Augusta (Kalinoski) Ezyk, and his brother, Donald Ezyk. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jacqueline (Scandrol) Ezyk; three children, Amy S. Gartley (David Gartley), of Leechburg, Kelly Smith (Lester Smith), of Irwin, and Justin M. Ezyk (Audra B. Kondash), of Clearwater, Fla.; and six grandchildren, Rachel M. Gartley, Matthew D. Gartley, Sarah E. Gartley, Brianna Smith, Lester Joseph Smith and Franco Michael Ezyk. Arter III officiating. Masonic services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Mausoleum, Lower Burrell.
