Mary Alice Brenner

1932 - 2025

Mary Alice Brenner, 93, of Plum Borough, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025. She was born April 26, 1932, in the Logans Ferry Heights area of Plum Borough to the late Theodore and Elizabeth Langer Barckoff and was a graduate of Plum High School and Citizens General Hospital School of Nursing and received her bachelor's in education and master's in arts degrees from IUP. Mary Alice was a registered nurse and was employed at Citizens General Hospital in New Kensington, then became a school nurse and eventually a guidance counselor at Plum High School. A devout Catholic, she was an active member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church of New Kensington. She enjoyed traveling and kept fit at the YMCA of New Kensington. She donated her time and efforts feeding people at the Sr. Citizens Center of Plum Borough. Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Clifford Brenner. She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Ron) McNutt, Kim (Kevin) Helfrich, and Don (Cassie) Brenner; grandchildren, Keli, Nicole, Kori, Cody, and Courtney; two great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Ronald Barckoff, Eugene (Joanna) Barckoff, and Carol Busler. Viewing will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025, in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where prayers of transfer will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 1125 Leishman Ave., New Kensington. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
