Michael S. Graczyk

Michael S. Graczyk, 92, of Natrona Heights, died Saturday, July 22, 2006, at the Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown, Pa. He was born Oct. 16, 1913, in LaJose, Pa., to the late Adam and Helen Weglicki Graczyk. He was a leader most of his life. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps in his youth, a police officer and chief of police for Harrison Township. He was also a guard in the Blawnox Prison. For eight years, Mike was president of Local 1196 United Steelworkers Union. He was a retiree of the Open Hearth of Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation, Brackenridge. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Natrona Heights. In his retirement he enjoyed playing golf, watching football and horseracing. Most of all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Victoria Harpula Graczyk; son-in-law, Richard Miller; sister, Julia Kelman; and brothers, John and Edward Graczyk. He leaves behind a son, Michael R. Graczyk and his wife, Elaine, of Natrona Heights; a daughter, Jeanne Miller, of Cambridge Springs; seven grandchildren, Lori Stillwagon (Mark), Joseph Miller (Debra), Adam Miller (Natalie), Christopher Graczyk (Mary), Patrick Graczyk (Lisa), Julie Hiester (Dave) and Sheryl Shrecongost (Bill); 15 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688, where a blessing service will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church with the Rev. Gary Krummert as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Ladislaus Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
