Michael K. Quarles

Michael Kermit Quarles, of Illinois, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at the Carbondale Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, Ill. He was born Jan. 24, 1943, in Cheswick, lived in New Kensington, then moved to West Frankfurt, Ill., where he lived for the past 30 years. He experienced physical disability during his lifetime. He graduated from Ken High in 1960 and from Carbondale College in Carbondale, Ill. He was born to the late Ernest and Beulah Quarles and is survived by his children, Michael Yingling, of Oregon, and Dolores Quarles, of Missouri; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, from Penn Hills; many nieces and nephews; longtime friend, Shirley Yingling, of Arnold; and his siblings, Dolores Harris, Marvin (Janet) Quarles, of California, Donna (Frank) DiDonato, Joseph Ronald (Debra) Quarles and Robert "Bob" Quarles, of Western Pa. Besides his parents and daughter, Michele, he was preceded in death by his twin brothers, Ernest "Jack" and Ottis "Ott" Quarles; and sister, Dorothy Imogene Shanta. Michael's funeral arrangements were handled by UNION FUNERAL HOME, in West Frankfurt, Ill. His remains were cremated and will be buried in Denning Cemetery, West Frankfurt. Funeral services are pending.
