Michael G. Riggs

1948 - 2017

Michael George Riggs, 69, of New Kensington, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017, in UPMC St. Margaret Hospital. He was born May 4, 1948, in New Kensington, to the late George A. and Helen R. Gruendle Riggs Jr. A lifelong resident of the New Kensington and Arnold area, he was a cab driver for the New Kensington Cab Co. He was a member of the New Kensington Eagles No. 533. Mr. Riggs' hobbies included collecting and repairing Lionel Marx trains and the HO models. He also collected World War II vintage plane models and Di Cast car models. He enjoyed playing pool, baseball, softball, bowling and tennis. Mr. Riggs also enjoyed talking on the CB radio. He was an avid chess player and enjoyed all sports. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his fiancee, Dorothy Mcguire Craig He is survived by his good friend, Rich Huth, who had been friends with Mike since grade school at St. Joseph.
Friends will be received from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2017, in the JOSEPH J. CARDARO FUNERAL HOME, 1125 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington, 724-337-3325. A Mass outside of church will be held immediately following visitation at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private in Greenwood Memorial Park.
