Peggy Lee (Smith) Finney, 73, of Brownsville, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born May 27, 1952, she was the beloved daughter of the late Clifford K. Smith and Dorothy (Soles) Smith. Peggy dedicated many years of service to the Westmoreland County Prison, where she was known for her strong work ethic, sharp wit, and kind heart toward her coworkers and those in her care. A member of Faith Lutheran Church of West Newton, Peggy's quiet strength and compassion touched everyone who knew her. She faced life's challenges with grace, humor, and resilience always finding a way to lift others, even in difficult times. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brother, Clifford H. Smith; and her great-niece, Tanya Mase. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Routzahn (Hal); and her brother, William R. Smith (Angel). She also leaves behind a grandson and numerous nieces and nephews who adored their "Aunt Peg" for her warmth, generosity, and infectious laugh. Peggy will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her sense of humor, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. Her legacy of kindness and strength will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing her. Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, at BARTHEL'S FUNERAL HOME, 227 Second St., Smithton, PA 15479. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at BARTHEL'S FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Newlin Schafer presiding.
