Rodney Alan Rumbaugh, 73, of Irwin, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 15, 1951, in Greensburg, PA, and was the third born son of the late Donald Wayne Rumbaugh Sr., and Maralyn (Mears) Rumbaugh. He graduated from Hempfield Area High School, class of 1969, during which time he played American Legion Baseball. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Rod worked and retired from the United States Postal Service as a mail handler after 39 years of service. Rod and his high school sweetheart, Karen (Fedor), were married for 53 years. They have a daughter and son, along with five amazing grandchildren; the greatest joys of his life. He enjoyed fishing, reading, and working in his yard all year long. He was an avid Willie Mays and San Francisco Giants fan after seeing them play at Forbes Field as a young boy. He was also a Pitt Panther football fanatic, being a proud season ticket holder for 23 years. Rod lived life to the fullest with his wife while enjoying ballroom dancing, attending oldies dances, and taking many treasured family vacations. Some of his favorites included cruising to Bermuda and a special 50th anniversary spent in Hawaii. Rod cherished the camaraderie from his weekly Bible study, and he was a dedicated member of Salem Baptist Church in West Newton, PA. He was preceded in death by both parents; an infant sister, Sharon; and in-laws, Frank (Bud) Fedor and Josephine (Adzima) Fedor. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen (Fedor) Rumbaugh of Irwin, PA; daughter, Renee (Michael) Eiseman of Irwin, PA; son, Nicholas (Randi) Rumbaugh of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Olivia and Lucas Eiseman and Colton, Tanner, and Lucy Rumbaugh. He is also survived by brothers, Donald (Barbara) Rumbaugh Jr. of Greensburg, PA, Barry (Sandie) Rumbaugh of OH, and Mark (Melinda) Rumbaugh of OH; along with many special nieces and nephews.
