Roy C. Quist, 68, of Bovard, where he resided with his brother Dennis and sister-in-law Lori Quist, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025. He was born on June 3, 1957, in Greensburg. Son of the late Kenneth Jr. and the late Ruth (Wineland) Quist. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Shirley Quist; and cousins, Darrell Weyandt and Patricia Pfeil. Roy is survived by his siblings, Ronald Quist (Judie), Geraldine Fabery (David), Mary Smith, Dennis Quist (Lori), Sally Ross (Jeff), and Mark Quist; and his brother-in-law, Ronald Smith. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Betty Jo Denner (Adam), Jessica Marvin (Richard), Stephanie Kemerer (Mike), Matthew Quist, Jeffrey Ross (Katie), Nicholas Smith, Jacob Ross (Alleasha), Tonya Quist (Robbie Fry), Amanda Fabery, and Leeca Flowers (Michael); many great-nieces and -nephews; fur babies, Rose and Sandy Beaches; as well as surviving aunt, Patricia Pfeil. Roy graduated from Hempfield Area High School in 1977. He retired after a long career as a dishwasher at Day's Inn, Travel Lodge, Mountain View Inn, and The Ramada Inn. Roy was an avid watcher of his favorite sports teams, the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins. He enjoyed watching classic TV shows on MeTV and listening to his favorite country music stars, especially Kenny Rogers. Roy spent much of his time on marathon walks through Bovard with his beloved fur baby, Rose. Roy was a very kind, generous, and compassionate man. He had a big heart and took great care of his mother, as well as his sister-in-law. Roy was a great cook, always making food just right for his family. Roy had a great voice and enjoyed singing and whistling his favorite tunes. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025, at BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison, PA 15663, Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at the funeral home, with Rev. Robert Green officiating. Interment will follow at the Westmoreland County Memorial Park in Greensburg. Friends and family are encouraged to wear black and gold in honor of Roy's favorite teams.
