Salvador Perez Obituary

Salvador Perez, 82, died Saturday, March 8, 2008. Born in New Kensington, he was the beloved husband of the late Otta Mae (Burgan) Perez; loving father of Philip (Donna) Perez, of Pittsburgh, Linda Perez and the late Douglas Perez; brother Richard Perez, of Kingman, Ariz., Audree (Dr. Donald) Morrell, of Natrona Heights, and the late Robert Perez; and brother-in-law Raenell Perez, of Houston, Texas. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Sal worked for Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 37 years as an electric sales engineer in the U.S. and internationally. He served in the Navy Reserve, attended the University of Notre Dame and graduated from the University of Rochester, N.Y. He was a member of Oakley Lodge No. 668 F&AM and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Pittsburgh, and charter member of Northern Hills United Methodist Church. He was an accomplished vocalist and avid thespian, performing for audiences from the age of 10 and winning first place in the Wilkins Amateur Hour contest at age 14 on KDKA Radio. Sal sung with big bands, like Vaughn Monroe in 1948, and performed in dozens of community theater musicals into his 60s. His great talent, excellent voice and leadership never were as important to him as his wife, son and daughter. To know him was to love him. He was a handsome, special man, a wonderful loving father, intellectual and good friend to many. He will be missed and live in our hearts forever. Private services were held at the convenience of the family with ELDEN A. GOOD FUNERAL HOME in charge of arrangements. Visit www.goodfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be directed to Northern Hills United Methodist Church, 6700 Winton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45224.
