Samuel Arabia Obituary

Samuel J. Arabia, 82, of Lower Burrell, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, in the Harmar Village Nursing Home with his loving family surrounding him. He was born May 13, 1932, and was a son of the late Frank and Angela (Marsico) Arabia. Sam was a member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, where he was an usher, a member of the Holy Name Society and the church bowling league. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was also the owner of Sam's Shoes in East Liberty for 55 years. Sam enjoyed Bocce and Fourth of July picnics and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Genevieve (Naviglia) Arabia; and three children, Vincent (Susan) Arabia, Nancy (Dan) Hogan and Sammy (Pam) Arabia; eight grandchildren, Kristie, D.J., Doug, Elizabeth, Steven, Gregory, Antoinette and Sam; three great-grandchildren, Anika, Joviaunah and Remington; five sisters, Kay Makara, Rose Discello, Marietta Bettor, Minnie Nepolello and Gloria Fish. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Carl Arabia and Anthony Arabia; two stepbrothers; and one stepsister. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the GIUNTA-BERTUCCI FUNERAL HOME INC., 1509 5th Ave., Arnold, JohnPaul Bertucci, Owner-Supervisor. Prayers of transfer will take place at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church.
