Sandra Thorp Obituary

Sandra Lee Thorp (Wegner), of Brackenridge, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, at the age of 79. She had previously resided in Irwin, before making her final journey. Sandra was born on July 5, 1945, in Natrona Heights, PA, the daughter of Fulton Wegner and Mary Marie George Wegner. She graduated from Har-Brack High School and later earned a degree from Seton Hill University, becoming a paralegal. Sandra found great joy in her work, particularly during her time at the Penn Trafford Area Library, where she was able to share her love for books and learning with others. Her warmth, compassion, and dedication to her family, friends, and community made her a cherished member of all who knew her. Sandra is survived by her children, Samantha Thorp, Thomas Thorp, and Rachel Thorp; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Panacea Grazier and Korian Grazier. She was predeceased by her partner, Walter Wayne Perkins; and her brother, Richard Wegner. Sandra's legacy of love and devotion will live on in her family, who will forever hold her memory close. Sandra was known for her deep love for animals and her passion for books. She also served as the president of the PTA, contributing her time and energy to the betterment of her children's school community. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to her loved ones and the community will always be remembered fondly. The family will not be holding a service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Frankies Friends in New Kensington, PA. Sandra's presence in the lives of those she touched will be dearly missed. Her legacy of kindness and dedication to family and community will remain in our hearts forever. Arrangements are entrusted to R.J. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, New Kensington. 724-335-0100

I worked with Sandy at Penn Area Library. She always had a smile on her face. She helped and taught me so many things. I will miss your smile Sandy. Rest in Peace.

My deepest condolences to the family. We went to school together from first grade through high school. I remember playing baseball and football and flying kites in the empty lot beside Sandy's house. I remember talking with Sandy at the Freeport pool back in the '70s. Rest in peace Sandy.

Samantha, Thomas, Rachel, Annie & Kori
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. I have such fond memories of Sandy
throughout the years - meals shared at Aunt Mary's house, laughter and good times, her devotion to you as a mother/grandmother and, of course, her smile. She will never be forgotten.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Teri (cousin) and Bob

I remember Sandra from our days at Seton Hill! She was a tough lady with a smile who didn't mind all of us crazy kids running around. Bless you, Sandra. You will be missed.
