David W. Drasnin, 88, of Dallas, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, at his home.
Born in Charleston, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Bertha Weidner Drasnin and was a graduate of Montgomery High School and West Virginia University, Class of 1958.
He was employed by Prudential Securities for many years, retiring in 1997 as branch manager. In his early years, he was with Bache and Company. He had managed the Parkersburg, W.Va., South Bend, Ind. and Wilkes-Barre offices. Prior to Bache, David served in the U.S. Army Field Artillery, 2nd Howitzer Battalion, 25th Artillery in the U.S. and Germany, discharged as a captain. He was a lifelong member of Kiwanis, serving as president of the Wilkes-Barre chapter. He was also very involved with the Red Cross blood donation program.
David was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Drasnin, in 1989.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ethel Houck, at home; daughter, Deb Baloga, and her husband, John, Dallas; and sons, Steven Drasnin, Olympia, Wash.; Mark Drasnin and his wife, Marjorie, Philadelphia; Scott Drasnin and his wife, Jennifer, Newark, N.J.; David Whipple, Falls; and Wayne R. Whipple and his wife, Laurie, Avoca. Dave and Ethel share 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, from Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday. Interment will be in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas.
