Sophie (Nyga) Brucker, 93, formerly of Natrona, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021, at Platinum Ridge Center for Rehabilitation and Healing, Brackenridge. She was born March 2, 1928, in Natrona, and was the daughter of the late Walter and Blanche (Wisnewski) Nyga. She was a longtime resident of Natrona. Sophie retired from Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights, after 31 and one half years of working as a hospital escort. She was a member of St. Ladislaus Roman Catholic Church, Guardian Angels Parish. She enjoyed walking, watching television and was an avid gardener. Sophie loved and lived life to her fullest for her grandson, Gregory. Survivors include her son, Greg (Darlene) Brucker, of Buffalo Township, a grandson, Gregory H. Brucker, of Cranberry Township, and her nephew, Tom Nyga, of Colorado. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Frank W. Brucker, who passed away Nov. 19, 2014, and three brothers, Walter, Victor and John Nyga. Relatives and friends will be received from 8:30 a.m. until parting prayers at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2021, in the PAUL R. AJAK FUNERAL HOME INC., 2 Pine St. and River Ave., Natrona. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Ladislaus Roman Catholic Church, 48 Spruce St., Natrona. Burial will follow in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
