Thomas D. Shockey

1933 - 2025

Thomas D. Shockey, 92, of Apollo, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Born Sept. 17, 1933, in Spring Church, he was a son of the late Dale and Belvia (Stitt) Shockey. Thomas was a 1952 graduate of Apollo Area High School. He worked as a dispatcher for John E. Saul Red-E-Mix. After retirement, he worked for his son-in-law at Jim's Automotive. Thomas was an avid hunter and enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles. He was a member of the Apollo Masons, the Apollo Elks, and the Pittsburgh Shriners and Hillbillies. In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his sisters, Louise Shellhammer and Linda Baer. Thomas is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara A. (Householder) Shockey of Apollo; his daughter, Diane T. (James) Detman of Apollo; his brother, John R. (Barbara Calizzi) Shockey of Apollo; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, in CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, until the hour of service at 6 p.m., with Vivian Shaeffer Presbytery of Kiskiminetas, Commissioned Pulpit Supply officiating. Private interment in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, at the convenience of the family.
