William A. Peoples

William A. "Billy" Peoples, 78, a lifelong resident of Oakmont, passed away peacefully at home after a short illness Monday, May 30, 2022, Memorial Day, his favorite holiday. Beloved husband for 35 years of Susan "Suzie" Peoples; brother of Marian (the late Wayne) Ritchey, the late Lettie (the late Gilbert) Eiler, and the late Dale (surviving spouse, Mary Jo) Peoples; brother-in-law of Robert (the late Mary Ann) Ebitz and Phil (the late Barbara) Kirkman. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A longtime member of Oakmont Methodist Church and heavily involved with the Oakmont Fire Department for 54 years, he served as chief for 12 of those years. He retired from U.S. Airways with 39 years of service as a lead mechanic. Participating in the Lions Club Shows for many years, he was also a member of the Duquesne Canoe Club and a member in the Drum and Bugle Corp., Vern Acklin. An avid Steelers fan, he was a season ticket holder since the 1970s. He enjoyed celebrating achievements and special events of family and friends, and was always so proud of being "Uncle Bill." Friends and relatives will be received from 1 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont. Firemen will hold services at 7 p.m. Friday evening. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022, in the funeral home. Interment will follow in The Verona Cemetery, Oakmont.
