MANSFIELD: Bill L. Owen, age 89, of Mansfield, was greeted in heaven by his wife, Jeanne Owen, on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family.

On September 21, 1927, Bill was born in Waterford, Ohio, the son of the late Carl W. and Ula L. (Cook) Owen.

A World War II veteran, Bill served in the U.S. Air Force as a construction foreman.

Bill married the love of his life, Jeanne Ann (Spangler) Owen in 1954. They shared 59 years together. She preceded him in death on March 25, 2013.

Always working in construction, Bill was "a siding man."

An outdoorsman, Bill was an archer, lover of wildlife, and mushroom hunter. He kept active, cutting wood until a few months ago. He also was a member of the Mohican Bow Hunters Club.

One of a kind, Bill had a way of telling a captivating story, he was thrifty, and he had a sweet charm about him. His parting advice to his family and friends, "don't forget to stop and smell the roses."

Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters: Toni (Bryan) McLaughlin, and Kristi Owen; one granddaughter, Mikki (Jonny) Crist; two great-grandchildren: Gunnar and Coopar Crist; and a niece, Lynnda Sweeney.

Including his wife and parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Bill Michael Owen; and a sister, Lois Owen .

Services honoring Bill's life will be observed privately by his family.
