ALICE BURCH Obituary

Alice Burch Alice J. Burch passed away peacefully on February 1, 2013, in Puyallup at the age of 84. Born on November 30, 1928 to Emma and Louis Babst, she grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska where she graduated with a degree in Art. Besides loving art, she embraced music and was involved in church choirs throughout her life. While in college, she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and remained actively involved. She married Austin A. Burch after college and they settled in San Francisco, where Alice worked as an executive assistant until she had children. At that point she stayed home to raise her children and do volunteer work. They moved to Lakewood in 1968 and made it home. Volunteerism came naturally to her and she worked at her children's schools and in various other capacities. She also participated in a variety of organizations such as garden clubs and bridge clubs. However, being a mom was most important to her and she made sure that her home was always open to everyone. She will be remembered for having "the entire gang" of her children's friends always welcome. She continued to remain active in her children's and grand-children's lives and her passing leaves a void. When her children grew up, she became a realtor and in her final years worked as a copy editor at Sir Speedy. She loved her friendships and her family and will be deeply missed by all she touched. She is survived by daughter, Leslie Blauman of Denver, and son, Andrew Burch and his wife Jill Burch of Puyallup. She also leaves four grandchildren- Carolynn, Jonathan, Allison, and Mark.

I wish for Alice's family what the rest of us have held onto as she passed into and out of lives in times past. We all remember the grand lady who supported us in the Pierce County Emergency Medical Services Office. We remember the fun times, the 'politically correct' times and everything in between. I know she is at peace now,...Alice, it is time to put your feet up and rest.

We at Sir Speedy will miss Alice. Printing can be a stressful business and Alice's presence each day was a bit of calm amongst the storm. We always enjoyed her stories about her past life.

My condolences to Alice's family. I worked with Alice at Sir Speedy. She was a good friend and co-worker. We've sure missed her around here, she was always ready to give advice and correct our mistakes. She really was fun to work with. We'll never forget her.

There is a void in my life with the passing of my friend, Alice. I loved her dearly and always knew that she was someone I could turn to for support and advice. We had many good times together over the last 20 years and I will miss her terribly. I love you, Al!

My sincere condolences to Alice's family. She was a great person and wonderful asset to the Pierce County Emergency Medical Services. She was an excellent team worker and fun person to work with. Alice was the lady of the office and a masterful confidential secretary. I think about her often and I will miss her and her smile.
