Mildred Burgess Obituary

Mrs. Mildred Christine Ivey Burgess, 69, of Rock Hill, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014, at Piedmont Medical Center.
She was born April 27, 1945, in Kershaw, a daughter of the late James Franklin Ivey and Julie Starnes Ivey. Mrs. Burgess was very family oriented. She loved to play bingo.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Burgess is 2 p.m. today, June 18, at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Westside Cemetery.
Mrs. Burgess is survived by her husband, Mike Burgess of Rock Hill; two sons, Boyd T. Dean "Junior" and Claude A. Dean "Buck" and his wife, Ellen, all of Rock Hill; a daughter, Phyllis "Missy" Kirby and her husband, Jack, of Pine-ville, N.C.; two sisters, Lucille Chappel of Lancaster and Louise Faile of Gastonia; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and her best friend, Lucille Humphries.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Franklin Dean; a brother, Bud Ivey; and seven sisters, Annie Mae "Tib" Rollins, Mary Lee Stevens, Bessie Mae Deese, Ruby Lee Threatt, Sara Ann "Nuke" Boyd, Kathleen "Kitty" Outlaw and Aline Matthews.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at 826 Cauthen St., Rock Hill.
A very special thanks to Lauren and Aaron and the staff of Piedmont Medical Center's third floor.
