Ben was a great friend of my father's and when I was a kid, Ben was frequently at our house or my dad's business, which was right down the street from Barnacle Bill's. Ben was my personal favorite friend of my Dad's. Ben always had a funny story, had a unique sense of humor, and was always kind to my brother and me. I lost contact with with Ben and his family after my dad passed away in 1985 and I moved out of state. Ben was a very good man. My deepest sympathy to the family for their loss.

I first met Ben down in the Port of Tacoma when looking at a boat with his friend from Cole Screen Printing. I became friends with Ben and we and Dennis O'Dell have attended many automobile swap meets and car shows over the years. When the Tavern closed down I bought the large Menu Sign from Ben and put in on our waterfront cedar home with rope around it. Ben was a special friend with a special sense of humor, laugh and smile, and will be dearly missed. May the good Lord comfort his family and let them know that Ben was loved by many.

Our thoughts are with those that Ben leaves behind. Ben was a true friend who would help out whenever he was needed. Ben shared the fact that he accomplished everything he wanted to do and lived a rich and full life. We will miss him as those that read this will miss him.
