Dr. Calvin Horace Knapp

Dr. Calvin Horace Knapp 8/4/1924 - 6/7/2011 After a brief illness, Dr. Calvin Knapp passed away at the age of 86. He cited marrying Sandra Burton Knapp, whom he met while both were attending the Julliard School of Music, as the most cherished decision of his life. Dr. Knapp was born August 4, 1924 to a pioneer family of ten children in Tacoma, Washington. As a World War II D Day Army Veteran he served his country with honor. Highlights of a long and productive music career included his 35-year tenure as Professor of Music at Pacific Lutheran University and his 25 years as Minister of Music at First Presbyterian Church in Tacoma. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, 5 children, and 11 grandchildren. Dr. Knapp's memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 15th, 2:00pm at First Presbyterian Church in Tacoma.
