Chuck had a way of connecting through sports, and I am not versed in professional team sports. He would usually talk to me about his favorite team (at the time it was the Dallas Cowboys). After a few conversations, I thought it was best to be honest and tell him I didn't have a clue about sports. He took my comment in stride, but next time it was the same. And then I realized that the thing to do was to root for his team, and that was the basis of our connection there at BigToys. I also remember his way of participating in multiple conversations with several people, almost at once - Cowboys with me, then switch to, say, pool with someone else, and just as quickly switch to another conversation (pizza?) with someone else. It was his way of connecting with us at work. RIP, Chuck.

I am going to show my ignorance for sports but... I would take him to BigToys for a year or so. During March Madness, he was on fire for basketball. UConn was a powerhouse that year and he talked about it daily. He was saying how good UConn was. I was thinking how could Yukon have that good of a basketball team. I finally figured out UConn was University of Connecticut. I am so glad that Chuck didn't catch on. He was a great guy! There were other memorable moments in our drive but I will leave it at the UConn scenario.

Always a joy to see Chuck at all the family parties we had the pleasure of attending. Every time he saw me he would say"how about those Mets Jim" and away he would go on giving me lots of stats and whose on first. Our grandson Charley had the pleasure of working with Chuck at 6th Ave Farrellis and absolutely thought he was the a good man and fun to be around. We will all miss you Chuck. R. I. P.
