David Elgin Schmidt

David Elgin Schmidt Age 35, tragically died on Sunday, January 6, 2008. This dedicated officer of the Squaxin Island Tribal Police Department served his community with pride, was honored as a Shelton Kiwanis' Officer of the Year in 2006, and graduated with honors from the Federal Law Enforcement Academy in September 2007. David was a 1991 graduate from Elma High School, where he served on the football team, was a varsity wrestler, and was a member of the touring swing coir. His passion, however, was spending time in the outdoors, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and scuba diving. Those who were touched by this devoted father, loyal friend, and beloved son and brother suffered a tremendous loss and will not easily forget this most wonderful man. David is survived by his wife Kristin, two children, Colton and Emily Schmidt, father Leonard Schmidt, sisters Janet Hamilton and Laura Moritz, and brothers Tim and Scott Schmidt. He was our joy and a great source of pride. Services will be held at the Shelton Civic Center, located at 525 W. Cota St., Shelton at 10:30am, Saturday, January 12, 2008. Services are being managed by McComb Funeral Home, 703 W. Railroad Ave., Shelton.
