Eleanor Maloney Obituary

Eleanor B. Maloney (Ellie) passed away Monday, July 28 in Gig Harbor, Washington of natural causes. She was 92. She was the widow of Harold J. Maloney (Hal). She was preceded in death by her sisters M. Virginia Biggy and Margaret Sennott, both of Massachusetts, and by many close friends. She was born in Boston on Nov. 22, 1932, daughter of the late Mary C. (Dwyer) and John J. Biggy. She kept her Boston accent and New England dry humor to the end. While working in fashion at Jordan Marsh in Boston, she met Hal at a USO Valentine's Day dance after he spied her across the room in a lavender gown. After marrying in 1958 they moved to California, and then to Gig Harbor in 1977. Ellie loved meals with family, grandkids and grand-dogs, steak nights and car trips to the Oregon coast for Dixieland jazz with the Gig Harbor gold club crowd, dancing with Hal, Cape Cod and its lighthouses, hummingbirds, and crooner music. She treasured warm sunny days with sparkling water views and the visitors, deer, and birdsongs that graced her longtime Cromwell home. Her love, upbeat attitude, and humor will be forever missed by her family and many close friends including the "Wine Wednesday" ladies. She is survived by her daughters Janice Abdalla (Edil) and Julie Maloney, sons Jim (Kelly) and Joe, six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. The family thanks the kind providers at Franciscan health care, Harbor Place, and Cottesmore. After a private family service, her ashes were scattered in the Puget Sound.
