Emils Ozolins

EMILS OZOLINS Emils Ozolins, age 85, passed away on March 22, 2004. Born in Barbeie, Latvia on Nov. 22, 1918, he fled Latvia during the Russian occupation in Sept. 1944 for Germany, where for the next 6 years he lived in DP camps and served as a guard during the Nuremberg Trials. While there, he married Nina (Velta), his wife of 55 years, with whom he immigrated to the US and eventually settled in Tacoma in 1951. Emils worked for Tacoma Steel for 33 years until retirement. He will forever be remembered by his wife Velta, his sons John (Kathy) and Elmer (Kim), and his grandchildren David, Jay, Ryan, Lindsey and Brett. Funeral Service Saturday March 27, 2004 at 11:00 AM in the Evergreen Chapel at New Tacoma Cemetery.
