Evan Jacoby Obituary
May 15, 1947 - October 26, 2021
Olympia, Washington - Evan S. Jacoby passed away on Tuesday, October 26,2021. He was born in San Francisco, California on May 15,1947 to Dr. Jacoby and Marcia Jacoby. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Puget Sound. Evan's career with the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife spanned 30 years. For most of those years he served as the Department's House Council, He had a deep commitment to the preservation of the marine ecology of Washington State.
Before joining Fisheries, Evan was a member of the Peace Corp., serving in Thailand as an entomologist in the National Malaria Eradication Project. He continued his studies of insect species for the rest of his life.
Evan was an avid boater. He and his wife, Jill, sailed in Washington and Canadian waters. Upon retiring, they cruised in Mexico for several years,
Evan also loved playing bridge. He compiled many Master Points as he played with friends in both Washington and Mexico.
Evan is survived by his wife, Jill, his two stepchildren, Adam and Kristin Roessler and his granddaughter, Koralea Roessler.
Evan will be remembered for his love of life and his commitment to the environment. He will be missed. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date.

My sympathies on your loss. I worked with Evan during the 1980's and 90's at WDF and WDFW. We worked closely together for years in the Enforcement Program. Evan was a good friend and great colleague. I am saddened to hear of his passing. Peace to you and your family. Sam Knutson
